Let's start off with the first game of the series: Five Night's at Freddy's. Nobody even knew there was really a story behind this one until the second game. So we can't touch base on this just yet. We can start, however, with the second game. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 aroused a lot of confusion. So let's talk about the big question: Is this game a Sequel or a Prequel? Well, for starters, everyone knows phone guy actually died in the first game. So how could he still be alive? Second, phone guy says in night six of FNAF 2 that he's probably going to take over your position as night guard. And in the first FNAF, during the phone call of night 1, he actually tells you he did your job before you signed on. And finally, the dates on the checks are different. FNAF 2's cheque is dated 11-13-1987, while FNAF 1 takes place around 1993. So this game is clearly a prequel.
But that was just a little fraction of what is to come. So, now we have a bit of a timeline, FNAF2, then FNAF 1. Now, on the paper at the start of the second game, it says that a "vintage pizzeria is given new life." We already know that the second game is a prequel, meaning there is another diner before this one. And, there is also "Fredbear's diner" mentioned by the phone guy, which was the very first. This timeline will be extremely important for uncovering the mystery.
But there is something even more important. Something that will uncover the mystery of this entire game: The death minigames. In FNAF 2, when you die, you are met by a retro looking minigame. These will be the key to unlock the secrets of Five Nights at Freddy's.
The first and most important minigame is the one where you must rush around giving the children cake and toys. This minigame is taking place at Fredbear's diner. We know this because of the small building and the one animatronic: Freddy. Outside the building is one child, crying. Further in the minigame, you watch in horror as a car pulls up to the child, a purple man comes out, and murders the child. The jumpscare after watching this horrible scene is the puppet.
Now, let's take a step back. The child, when crying, is leaving tear streams down his cheeks. These lines remain on his face even after he dies. And on the marionette, are two tear lines/streams down his cheeks. I don't know about you, but to me, the puppet, is the very first victim of the purple man.
Next, we have the minigame where you are foxy, running out of pirate cove to entertain the children. This takes place at the diner before the second game. Two times, you run out and entertain the children. The third time however, you see purple guy, smiling as you walk out and see five dead children. The purple man strikes again.
The next minigame is the one where you feed the children cake. In this minigame you play as the marionette. At first, it says give cake. so you rush around and do so. Next, it says give life, showing four dead children, and you are stuffing them into the animatronics suits: Freddy, Bonnie, Chicka and Foxy. But where, you may be thinking, is the fifth child? The jumpscare for this minigame is Golden Freddy. And just as our golden friend is jumping out, in that split second frame, we see the fifth dead child.
In the last of the minigames, you are simply moving through rooms. eventually you are jump scared. But occasionally, you are attacked by purple guy, who is holding a semi-circle sort of object in his hands. He kills you.
Now. How do these all connect. Well, first of all, it tells us that the old animatronics in FNAF 2, or the animatronics in the first game, are actually possessed by the dead children's spirits. It's insane. (See what I did there? I'm funny.) But let's take a step back. Who in the $^%* is the purple man? I have you're answer. Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, homicidal maniacs, our good friend the phone guy is a serial killer. But how do we know this? Let's take a look at the minigames once again, and at the lovely phone calls from our friend. In FNAF 2 phone guy claims that foxy was always his favourite, and that the "Puppet Thing" creeps him out. Why would the puppet freak him out? Because he knows that the first child he murdered is in that animatronic. That he possesses it. But still, how do we know?
He says foxy is his favourite. In the foxy minigame, we see purple man smiling as you come out. Smiling. He enjoys your presence. And one other thing. When purple man comes running out in the one minigame, In his hand is the semicircle object. I don't know what it is to you but to me that is very clearly... A phone. We have our killer.
But what about FNAF 3? How does it fit in? Five Nights at Freddy's 3 takes place 30 years later. It is a haunted house that is filled with artifacts from the old pizzerias. On your first night, have a blast doing absolutely nothing and just listening to the new phone guy go on and on about the new features of the game. But in night 2, you find out that they actually got a real animatronic. FINALLY SOMETHING TO DO!!!
This animatronic is one we have not seen before. People have been referring to him as"Golden Bonnie" because of his appearance. His name has actually been dubbed "Spring-Trap" because of further events in the game.
Any who, when beating night one, you come across a new minigame. These minigames are important to our story. After night one, you play as Freddy, walking through a scale model of the haunted house. While moving through hallways, you find a Purple Freddy telling you to follow him. Since there's really nothing else to do, you might as well. He takes you to a back room. When attempting to enter this room, the word error appears in the bottom left of the screen. Purple man runs out and kills you.
But wait! If this is taking place 30 years after he died, there's no way he could be there!!! You're right. This minigame takes place at the FNAF 1 pizzeria. And you're in for a big surprise.
As you progress through the nights, more minigames take place after beating them, where you play as the four original characters. Each time, Purple Freddy takes you to the back and purple man murders your face off. Fun. But on night five, something extraordinary happens. Who could be left to play as? None other than the crying child. The first murder victim of the purple man.
Earlier in the game, we hear a recording from phone guy training the employees. He says to be careful in the new animatronic suits, for there are many springs that can get activated, crushing the wearer of the suit. The next night the recording you hear is saying that the suits are no longer to be worn as they have caused serious injury and death to the past few wearers. So I think we can all imagine what's about to happen to our good friend purple man in this minigame.
As he climbs into the suit, we can see him laughing. But all of a sudden his body goes rigid and blood goes everywhere. Slowly, he sinks to the floor, bleeding to death. This is how phone guy/purple man died. Purple man is spring trap.
But wait! When beating the game, you are met by a picture of four heads from animatronics. But it says BAD ENDING!!! WTF!!! We just beat the game! How is this the bad ending? PURPLE MAN DIED! We should be happy!!! Actually, there's more to the game. And to unlock the "good ending" you need to replay the game.
And follow this walk through. Or watch Markiplier do so. Back? Mind blown? I know. Mine was too. In doing these things, you are freeing the souls of the children. They can finally leave this animatronic suits and be happy. Scott Cawthon went all out in this game. And it will most likely be the final game of the series. Thanks for reading, and I'll talk to you later.
